While I'm sure some people are quite sick of jumping photos, I must admit I do have a thing for them. Yowayowa woman is a daily photoblog of levitation I came across while i was in my "hibernating" state.

My one question is "What's with the gum boots?".

And whenever I dream of flying, that is how I fly, hovering about a foot or two off the ground, trying to keep a balance and not fall on my face. I guess I don't really like talking about my flying dreams, it makes the feeling wear off and I think it would be horrible if one day my flying dreams stopped u-u;

The rainy weather today is so nice and comfortable, like curling up on the couch with a blankie and a cat not cold at all :D After studying all day >_> and going out for yummy foods (so full) I spent the evening watching silly math-inspired videos from Vi Hart
such as this, some of them made me literally LOL (good thing M. is in the other room, playing some silly game on the PS3 with his headphones on)

And while I'm on the subject of youtube videos that made me lol... Almost 4 minutes of nerdy jokes

Then of course link-hopping around the place lead me to pretty geometry and fractal-like pictures based incorporating the human body. Although I have heard of the site before, I had not got around to checking it out until today ^^;; These are done using 3D models, as opposed to actual naked people as the name might lead you to believe. so it is completely safe XD

And on this note, I think I shall go read some Middlemarch on the couch and see if I can grabitate* some kitties and maybe a back-rub.

It was sunny and warm today and I got up "early" to go for a walk around the botanical gardens with Y. We ventured out into town, the parts of it which are not cordoned off to rubber neck a little. Saw Chch cathedral for the first time since the quake and found out that Elmo Courts (? The peachy coloured building opposite of the Police) has been demolished. That was pretty sad since I have some fond memories of it. Another building I like is still standing though, but probably not for much longer.

It has been rather rainy today. I blame my huge sleep-in today on that. We went out into freshly earthquaked town in order to find a place that was open on a public holida for lunch. The awesome plan of having nachos failed miserably; the shop was open but the kitchen closed u.u.

On the upside, M spotted another paste art in a tiny alleyway. The alleyway was so small, I could not get the whole picture in one piece.

We settled for having spicy kirean soup and bubble cup. Spicy soup is great on a chilly day n.n

ilomilo is the cutest game ^_^;;; M downloaded it for us to play. but he has not got a chance to have a go yet. I'm drooling over the cuteness of it, it oozes adorable graphics, silliness and interesting ideas.

ilomilo is a whee platform puzzler, which gets too tricky for me at times >_>;;; roar where did my brain go?
The whole idea of the game is that the two friends want to meet in an ever-changing park, and you take turns being one friend or the other to guide them through. You unlock memories, tunes and pictures as well as mini-games.

Wow I have really been hibernating through the winter. I knew I was, but I did not realise just how bad it is. Wood pigeons are so fat, and they seem to have picked the tiniest little tree to hang out on. You rarely see them in city bounds, but there must be a few nests in the botanical gardens, since I see them (and hear them fly, more commonly) late in the evenings.

I've had a rather unproductive couple months, just trying to come out of the winter hibernation I suppose. But now I feel the need to do something interesting; I've given up on the idea of doing something useful :P

I'd like to make a shawl that is like a spiderweb after a rain, light and glistening with tiny rainbows. I want to make paintings of girls with candyfloss hair and cherry lips. And I want to sand and varnish the coffee table and bus some new books.

The problem with making things though is that I either take the easy way out and end up with something so unattractive that I never want to show it to anyone, or I run out of steam and have a half finished product >_>;;; Seems like doodling in my notebook is the best I can do at the moment. how boring.

hehe this is enough of ranting though. Now that the summer is almost here, I'm sure that my ability to go through with my ideas will increase ;)

I am mesmorised by what they've done. They call it tilt-shift photography, it has a miniature model -like effect on real three-dimensional objects. These days the tilt-shift technique is easily emulated with software ;) But I definitely like what I'm seeing.

So last Tuesday we went to see the Pixies ^_^, but cos I'm lazy and cool, I had not got around to uploading the pics or anything until today. My excuse is that I was quite sore for 2 days after it ^_~

And this gives you the idea of how close to the stage we were. I think I like to be a bit further down so I can focus on listening to the music rather than maintaining my spot and not being flattened. I felt soooo weak like I have no muscles in my arms u-u;; off to the gym I go ;-;; Also I think I don't like bouncy people. (I'm too old for this kind of thing lol)

This morning I got to play with dollies ^_^;; My fake nendos have arrived and they are cute :D I got Merissa Seraphy - the pumpkin girl and Mio from K-ON.

She makes me think of a cute little egg. Maybe a Cadbury's crème egg :D

Merissa is a game character from a game I've never played, but she is just so adorable, she fits nicely into the palm of your hand and she is just super chibi kawaii rabu.

You get different arms and 3 faces for each character so you can alter it as you wish and make them strike different poses. I've instantly settled on my fave pose for Merrisa however, and don't feel like changing it ^^;;

Merrisa wanted to try on Mio's uniform. I think she likes it ^_~

Mio on the other hand seemed rather distressed with the pink パンツ and gloves combo.

Mio is cool, but she was really just coming to stay with me for company rather than anything else. I've re-painted her hair since taking the photos so it is blacker and shinier.

Grandma sent me this picture in an e-mail the other day, and I thought I should share ^-^;;

This is a playground being built in front of their apartment building, I think it looks quite nice. You can see a predominant Russian folktale theme going on here. Everything is wooden, and I find it amusing that the "bark" on the tree stumps is carved and very ornamental.

You can see some bears posing on the left, very symbolic of Russia, they are common characters in folktales; but they have been extra popular since the current president's name literally means Bear's (and is often abbreviated to Bear in informal environments).

The three-headed dragon in the middle is Zmej Gorynych, probably the main evil guy of Byliny (traditional epic, heroic narrative poem of the early East Slavs X-XIV centuries), he is a 3-headed snake and is often a metaphor for hordes of Mongols.

The last noteworthy thing about this is the presence of mushrooms in the background, for some reason or other, kids playgrounds always have some form of mushrooms :D I guess they are easy to climb and balance on?

I wonder if I'll get a picture of this completed.

Unfortunately there are lots of vandals in Russia and in combination to harsh weather ( significant temperature changes are evil when it comes to wood), so the life span of such a playground is limited to no more than 3 years (imho).

Since the end of the holidays I've been reading more than the usual ^_^;; It feels nice, but consumes so much time. I've recently been to a a party where different reading speeds were discussed, and I'm afraid I come out at the lower end of the spectrum. Oh well :D I've always known I'm not a fast reader, but knowing that people can read 2 pages in a minute is a bit sad for me.

Anyways, I've read Shame, Emma, Oroonoko, Wuthering Heights and am most way through Great Expectations ^_^;;; Reading anything by C. Dickens is great, he makes me giggle ^_^;;;

New friend is shiny :D well not too shiny or anything, but new toys are always cool.
Although we got it a whole week ago, I have not really had a play with it since I've been sick in bed since Monday afternoon >_>;;; Being sick is so fail u-u;;;

At least I had an abundance of models to try Mr Shiny out on :D Mr. Shiny recognises that Plussy has a face, but is oblivious of everyone else's faces. it is quite funny looking through it to find secret faces in the house (apparently my box of uni books has one).

Plussy-chan wanted to go on top of the microwave for the occasion :D (She normally hates it when I put her up there, but this time she wanted to go so she could spy on Meanie from up high).

Meanie monopolises my socks of doom :D (I'm quite impressed how well the socks are felting, soon I'll be able to wear them without slippers and still keep my feet warm =^_^=)

This picture is a perfect description of how my bf and I view colours differently. Here you have the light overlay and the pigment overlay in the circles. So when I say blue+yellow=green I get told that yellow is red+green ^^;;

Sometimes I wonder how other people see me. Most of the time I hardly give it any thought, but I know that there is very little correlation between what I think I'm like and what I'm like really, and that brings the question of other people's perception of me as well.. So I wonder if I'm seen as mature or childish, noisy or quiet, unbalanced, arrogant or knowledgeable or stupid, lazy, interested in lots of things or few, capable or unreliable... But then I realise that regardless of how I'm seen I'm not very likely to change anything in order to be seen in a better light, so there is probably very little point to wondering about things like this ^^;;;

Today was so good ^_^;; The weather was sunny and warm (relatively). I went for a walk in the park, breathing in the smells of autumn -the fallen decomposting leaves, the fresh cool air, the smell of a pond, it was very relaxing and even put a spring in my step. So much so that I had to find an unoccupied alley (there were lots of people out today, mostly taking photographs with their SLRs, and posing next to trees) and skip down the length of it. As the result of that I'm down one button on my coat >_>;; I know, I'm made of awesome.

And a while back my parents took me to a factory shop that sells nice and warm woolen things. I was happily browsing the racks looking for black things in size small, when I realised... *dun dun dun dun*

I don't mean to be mean though, I think it is cool that the staff (supposedly) made something with the unused knits, but I'm rather confused as to what it might be... and the trunk just makes me think that it is a giant mosquito >_>;; That thing is HUGE.

End of semester is approaching way too fast, it feels like crash landing >_>;;

Yeah not the most exciting post here :D I've been playing Technika at TZ lately.. new addiction due to it giving a false sense of achievement >_>;; I went up a rank to "Amateur" this morning :P

I find it quite funny how I've changed in some ways in the past few years. Playing arcade and video games almost(?) daily is something I wouldn't have fathomed a couple years back. Of course I still fill the niche of beat/music and puzzle games so I won't call myself a gamer, but I seem to be going down the path of instant gratification rather than responsibility >_>;;; oops! when did that happen ?

So I'm watching Pasta and Byeon Jeong-soo plays a secondary character in it and wah I want to look like her (except it is not possible... >_>!) minus the faux hawk >_>

I think it is mostly the super skinny + tall + short hair that make me think she is pretty >_>;;; my hair would never look as good as her's in the first picture ;-;

Roberto Kusterle - Italian photographer (but also painter etc) born in 1948.

Stumbled across this photographer today, and I just can't tell if it is the same person I was obsessed with back in high school or not. Being terrible with names is well terrible. To me the photographs have the same feel about them, but I have not found any I can remember and there are a few differences, so I don't really think it is the same person.. well here are some of the photos -

I've been feeling somehow melancholy the past couple days... and thinking of uni work scares me >_> again >_< how cool am I?

Today I went to my second class of Aikido, and I'm having second thoughts about it :D typical eh. The main issue with me atm is how much physical contact there is o-o! I mean everyone is nice and they are doing stuff like it natural and all, but getting pressed against ladies' chests is a bit odd o-o;;; I'm not even going to elaborate on pins >+_+> why did I not even consider these things before?
